COUNSELING APPROACH
I firmly believe that every path is different; therefore, I bring a range of approaches into therapy that will best help you meet your goals. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), that help teach skills to address anxiety and depressive symptoms. I am trained in EMDR to help assist clients begin their healing journey of complex trauma. I also use the Gottman Assessment in a couple's work to address a multitude of relationship stressors and strengths.
I have a passion for working with adults with complex trauma, and I feel honored to be a part of one's journey to growth and self-love. I welcome the opportunity to work with adults, couples, adolescents, and young children struggling with a variety of concerns; these may include anxiety, depression, life transitions, trauma, relationship strain, grief, and loss. Ultimately, my goal is to work with you to find the best approach for YOU.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
I graduated from University of Michigan with a Bachelor’s in Psychology and Minor in Crime and Justice, as well as, a Master’s in Social Work. During my college career, I worked with adolescents in the juvenile justice system teaching life/coping skills. I also worked with mothers and babies dealing with stress in the child-bearing years. After graduating, I began my career working as a Case Manager and Therapist for adults with severe and persistent mental illnesses. Being on an interdisciplinary team, I learned about the importance of a multi-dimensional approach to treatment and that every person is unique in his/her healing process.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, and being outdoors, whether it be biking, walking my dog, or gardening. I also love to travel and to learn about different people and cultures around the world. I strongly encourage self-care to my clients throughout the therapeutic journey, and thus try to instill ongoing self-care in my own life.
