What are the benefits of the Breath 'N Move ("Bodywork") sessions?
These sessions are designed to increase awareness of body tension and releasing it through stretching and movement. Bodywork sessions promote development of strength, flexibility, body awareness, connections with self and others, and healthy, emotional regulation.
How is this different from traditional exercising and strength training (gym) workouts?
These breath and body work sessions provide participants with an opportunity to learn and practice body awareness unlike typical exercise. This practice reinforces connecting to oneself through conscious breathing patterns and being mindful about discovering what feels good, while also increasing strength and mobility in your body. Rather than pushing through the pain, we identify pain points through body scanning, engage with the pain points in a way that provides insight into underlying emotional distress, and then practice releasing associated physical and emotional tension.
What should I wear to the Bodywork session?
Comfortable, loose fitting clothes and soft shoes similar to what might be worn at a gym work best. This might include sweats, shorts, gym shoes, etc.
Is there a place where the studio is located to change out of my work clothes into my workout clothes?
Yes, options include the available restrooms in the building, as well as a private dressing room adjacent to the Bodywork studio room.
Is this an adult, co-ed group?
Yes, this group is designed for men and women, aged 18 years and older.
Can this replace my regular exercise routine?
We recommend attending these sessions while continuing any routine you may already have in place. You may find these sessions to be a nice change of pace if you are used to do doing frequent moderate/vigorous intensity exercise. These sessions are most beneficial as an adjunct practice. If you need assistance planning an exercise routine outside of these sessions, Jordan is here to help!
Can I participate and attend counseling?
Yes, absolutely! Incorporating your time in this bodywork group is a great way to bolster and support your healing journey.
Are bodywork sessions covered by health insurance plans?
Breath 'N Move sessions are generally not covered by health insurance plans.
What if I want a one-on-one breath and body work or wellness coaching session outside of the group?
Absolutely! We can help arrange that for you. Just reach out to Amplified Life at 616-499-4711 or email us at: care@amplife.us and ask for Jordan. Jordan will reach out to you and work with you on developing an individual plan tailored to your specific needs and interests.
